My primary reason for offering myself as a candidate for the Senate is to work toward changing our image: It is imperative that we establish Louisiana as a place of moral and ethical leadership, an asset vital for attracting and keeping business and industry.

My sole commitment was and is to act with integrity in the best interests of the people I represent and to be accessible to their needs and concerns. During my 8 years in office, I listened to many people, but was never "for sale" to anyone. Nor did I seek my own interests.

I will be committed to reducing the expenditures of the State to basic needs, such as:

• focusing on education in the classroom

• correcting fundamental needs in infrastructure with emphasis on I-49

• supporting Medical care by allowing the "cash to follow the patient"

• addressing the monumental problem of insurance and coastal erosion

• determining basic needs through proper prioritizing of both needs and expenditures

• using appropriate educational channels to change our culture in terms of work ethics and skills

• promoting a complete revision of state taxes with emphasis on business and industry upon which the economic development of our State rests

As your Senator, I pledge to you to be accessible, to continue to listen carefully to your concerns, and to act accordingly to your interests.
